My future goals include earning a PhD. in rhetoric. For this reason, I have included two research papers I believe lay some of the groundwork for future dissertation research. These explore theories in rhetoric and their applications to a changing social and political climate. This research illustrates mastery of the following UALR Professional and Technical Writing Master of Arts program outcomes:

Understanding the history and theory of the profession - Throughout my studies, I realized an appreciation for visual rhetoric along with use of rhetoric in the political sphere. Understanding the history of female rhetors and their evolution from quiet observers to powerful influencers changed my outlook on feminine rhetoric, its uses, and its purposes. Visual rhetoric in film, particularly documentaries, to argue a point brought top of mind the importance of telling a complete story and using accurate images to support my view. While I am a writer at heart, understanding the foundations of visual rhetoric helped me understand rhetoric beyond the use of words.
