Grant Writing is a satisfying combination of research, technical writing, and storytelling. This combination presented unique challenges that pushed me outside of my comfort zone. For example, I had to especially concentrate on the budgeting aspect of writing the grant proposal because this does not come naturally to me. The Community Arts Association of Conway (CAAC) grant proposal illustrates mastery of the following UALR Professional and Technical Writing Master of Arts program outcome:

Conducting primary and secondary research - Research required for the grant proposal included in-depth web research, including demographic data, participant survey information, statistics, history, and many long conversations with CAAC participants and board members. I synthesized this information to create a story-telling document with well-developed arguments in favor of CAAC's need for funding a program intended to reach underrepresented groups in the performing arts arena.
